The mission of UNC Charlotte's motorsports and automotive engineering program is to promote the education of students in the broad areas of motorsports and automotive engineering through theoretical and applied instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and through interaction with and support of industry.

Legends Racing

The 49ers raced on December 3rd at Lowes Motor Speedway.  After starting 12th in the Feature race, the UNC Charlotte Legends Team and driver James Phipps were able to race their way to a solid 3rd place finish in Race 1 of the Inex Winter Heat Series.  This was the first time James had raced at the 1/5 mile track at Lowe's Motor Speedway, and  the first time the team had worked together under race conditions.  After constant improvement on the car's handling throughout practice, the team was able to bring home a strong finish.

STUDENTS: We are in the process of developing a web based resume tool where you can post your resume for viewing by potential motorsports employers. The resumes will reside in a password protected section of the new Motorsports Engineering Website. Businesses, race teams, and other employers who are friends of the program will be able to request a password to view these
resumes on line for potential summer, internship, and full-time job openings.
